U.S. stocks stabilized after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick suggested the Trump administration could scale back tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods, with an announcement expected as soon as this afternoon.
Lutnick said Tuesday that Trump would “work something out” with the countries, with a compromise “somewhere in the middle” the likeliest outcome. He made similar comments early Wednesday.
