Emmy Nominations 2025: Snubs and Surprises

The biggest night in television is almost here.
After all, the 2025 Emmy Award nominations were announced by Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song on July 15, with well-deserved TV shows like Severance and The Studio leading the pack with 27 and 23, respectively.
Meanwhile, other titles like The Last of Us and The Pitt earned several expected nods, which means they will be facing off in multiple categories at the 77th annual ceremony, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Pedro Pascal and Noah Wyle).
But there were some shows that raised eyebrows, both for being included and being absent in this year’s lineup. For instance, despite earning commercial success, The Handmaid’s Tale‘s final season was shut out of all the categories. Although Squid Game made history by being the first non-English series to be nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category in 2022, the second season of the Netflix show didn’t seem to garner the same buzz.
