One of New York City’s largest parades returns this Sunday: the National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP), which is celebrating its 69th edition this year.

The theme this year is “Somos Más Que 100×35” (We Are More Than 100×35), and the festivities will begin at 12 p.m., running along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street.

The parade will also feature appearances by Puerto Rican stars such as singer Daddy Yankee and television personality Dayanara Torres.

What is the National Puerto Rican Day Parade?

Recognized as the largest celebration of Puerto Rican heritage and achievements in the United States, the Parade serves as a vital platform for cultural preservation and building a collective legacy.

This event emerged from the struggles and advocacy of the Puerto Rican community in New York City during the 1950s. Under the motto “One People, Many Voices,” the NPRDP promotes culture, the arts, and education. It also offers special tributes to historical figures and highlights key issues to raise awareness of crucial problems and causes affecting the community.

Although Puerto Rico measures just 100 by 35 miles, Puerto Ricans around the world continue to impact culture, music, sports, entertainment, politics, business, and society through generations of excellence, resilience, creativity, and pride.

Which municipality is this year’s parade paying tribute to?

This year, the parade will also pay special tribute to the Municipality of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and the state of New Jersey.

“We are proud to recognize an outstanding group of honorees whose achievements reflect the spirit of this year’s theme,” said NPRDP Board Chair Lillian Rodríguez López. “Each represents the talent, determination, creativity, and cultural pride that continue to uplift Puerto Rican communities worldwide. Together, they show that Puerto Rican impact extends far beyond our island’s size.”

Who will be honored?

Leading the 2026 edition as Grand Marshal will be global reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee. The Parade Queen will be Dayanara Torres, renowned television host, actress, and Miss Universe 1993.

Joining them as King will be acclaimed actor and musician Anthony Ramos.

The parade will also present lifetime achievement awards to pioneering public servant and congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, whose leadership and advocacy have left a lasting mark on Puerto Rican and Latino communities in the United States, as well as to trumpeter, composer, bandleader, educator, and Latin GRAMMY® winner Charlie Sepúlveda.
