Saddle Brook Township officer seriously hurt in I-80 hit-and-run – NBC New York



A police officer in New Jersey was struck by a driver while performing a traffic stop early Sunday morning, New Jersey State Police said.

The Saddle Brook Township officer had reportedly pulled someone over around 4:30 a.m. along Interstate 80. Officials say an unknown car heading eastbound hit the officer and the grey Nissan Maxima stopped by the cop.

The driver who struck the officer did not stick around, according to New Jersey State Police.

Officials said the injured officer was seriously hurt, while the three occupants of the Nissan were OK.

Police did not have a description of the suspect vehicle but asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact authorities.
