Planes clip at Newark Airport; FAA investigating – NBC New York

Authorities are investigating an incident involving two planes at Newark Liberty International Airport.
According to the FAA, preliminary information indicates Singapore Airlines Flight 21 was pushing back when its right wing hit the tail of Spirit Airlines Flight 992 earlier Tuesday.
It happened in an area where air traffic control doesn’t manage aircraft.
The Singapore flight appears to have eventually gone on to its destination. The Spirit flight appears to have been canceled. It was bound for Orlando. Travelers were likely accommodated on a different plane.
NBC New York has reached out to both Singapore Airlines and Spirit for comment.
