New Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra teardown praises how easy it is to replace the battery

A few days ago we shared a teardown/disassembly video for the ‘vanilla’ Samsung Galaxy S26, and today the folks over at iFixit have published their teardown video of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

As always, the entry point is from the back, after heating up the adhesive holding the back glass in place. The display connector can only be accessed through the back, which means you can’t just replace the screen – you basically have to disassemble the whole phone just to get to the screen’s connector.

Samsung’s battery release mechanism is praised, and is even called simpler than Apple’s. The USB port is very easy to remove and replace in case it dies. The cameras are all connected to the mainboard from underneath, so if you need to replace a camera you will have to take the mainboard out first.

The selfie camera doesn’t come off easily at all, however. And the same goes for the screen. In the end, the S26 Ultra gets a 5 out of 10 provisional repairability score, where 10 would be most repairable and 0 would be least repairable. If Samsung took the availability of spare parts more seriously, that would go up to 6 out of 10, on par with the Pixel 10 family and one point shy of the latest iPhones.
