Who made the cut? Who got left off? – NBC New York

The United States men’s national team roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially been set.

The 26-man squad was announced Tuesday as part of an event in New York City, with players revealed in front of a crowd at Pier 17 in the city’s South Street Seaport.

Here’s a look at head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team:

Goalkeepers (3): Chris Brady (Chicago Fire), Matt Freese (New York City), Matt Turner (New England Revolution)

Defenders (10): Max Arfsten (Columbus Crew), Sergiño Dest (PSV), Alex Freeman (Villarreal), Mark McKenzie (Toulouse), Tim Ream (Charlotte FC), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), Joe Scally (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Auston Trusty (Celtic)

Midfielders (4): Tyler Adams (AFC Bournemouth), Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps), Weston McKennie (Juventus), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders)

Attacking midfielders/wingers (6): Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), Christian Pulisic (Milan), Gio Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen), Tim Weah (Marseille), Alejandro Zendejas (Club América)

Strikers (3): Folarin Balogun (AS Monaco), Ricardo Pepi (PSV), Haji Wright (Coventry City)

Juventus and USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie talked about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing multiple positions, and his life off the pitch with his three dogs.

There are 13 Americans who will make their World Cup debut, plus 13 returning players from the 2022 squad. The U.S. missed the World Cup in 2018 and lost to the Netherlands in the Round of 16 in 2022.

The biggest omissions from the 2026 roster include Lyon midfielder Tanner Tessmann, Real Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna and Middlesbrough midfielder Aidan Morris. All three of those players have appeared in matches for the U.S. in the past year.

The USMNT begins its World Cup slate on June 12 against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles Stadium) in Inglewood, California. It will then face Australia in Seattle on June 19 and Turkey in Inglewood on June 25 to wrap up Group D play.
