Consumer Cellular’s SpeakEasy launches for those over 75 with two special phones

Today, US MVNO Consumer Cellular announced the launch of SpeakEasy, which it bills as a standalone brand within its portfolio that is created specifically for seniors over the age of 75. SpeakEasy is built around the idea that “staying connected shouldn’t require navigating complicated technology”.
For SpeakEasy there are two devices to choose from: the SpeakEasy Flip at $79.95 and the SpeakEasy Smart at $99.95. The Flip is a flip phone as the name suggests, featuring “large easy-to-read buttons, front-facing volume controls, and an extra-loud speaker”. Service plans for this one start at $14.95 per month and include 500MB of data. The phone uses a proprietary UI built “on an open-source Android foundation”.
The SpeakEasy Smart is a smartphone with “a big, bright screen”, running a simplified Android OS with a large-button interface which surfaces the functions that people use most, like calling, texting, photos, and video. Service plans for this one start at $19.95 per month and include 3GB of data.
For both devices there’s a launch offer of two free months of service and free shipping, valid through December 31, 2026. The free months of service will be delivered in the form of service credits on the first two bills.
