NECA’s New Ben Cooper Costume Kids Bring Transformers, G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K. Into the Halloween Lineup — GeekTyrant
If you grew up rocking those wonderfully cheap and awesome plastic Halloween costumes of the 1980s, NECA has some new figures that are going to hit you right in the nostalgia.
NECA has revealed several new additions to its Ben Cooper Costume Kids collection based on classic Hasbro properties, with Transformers, G.I. Joe, and M.A.S.K. joining the Halloween party.
The 8-inch-scale action figure line recreates kids dressed in those classic Ben Cooper costumes many of us wore back in the day, complete with the instantly recognizable character masks and outfits.
The figures are officially licensed by Ben Cooper, the company responsible for the original costumes, which makes these little plastic trick-or-treaters an especially fun throwback for collectors who remember prowling the neighborhood with a plastic pumpkin bucket in hand.
The new wave brings some seriously cool Hasbro characters into the Ben Cooper Costume Kids lineup, including Optimus Prime and Megatron from Transformers, Sgt. Slaughter and Grunt from G.I. Joe, and Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K..
It’s a great mix of heroes, villains, robots, soldiers, and one of the coolest drivers to ever command a transforming vehicle, all filtered through the gloriously weird Halloween costume aesthetic of the ’80s.
NECA has released photos and details for the new figures, and pre-orders are now live.
The description reads: “The NECA Ben Cooper Costume Kids Collection is back with Series 15, bringing a new wave of spooky trick-or-treaters to your shelf in collaboration with Hasbro. Based on the licensed kids’ Halloween costumes of the 1950s–‘80s, these fully poseable figures perfectly capture the vintage charm of the looks from that era.
“This wave includes faithful recreations of classic costumes, showcasing fan-favorites from original Hasbro brands: Grunt and Sgt. Slaughter from G.I. Joe; Optimus Prime and Megatron from Transformers; and Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K. Each 6-inch action figure wears a mask and soft goods clothing replicating the signature vinyl look of the classic costumes and includes a trick-or-treat pillowcase accessory.
