X Chat updates composer | Social Media Today

X is rolling out updates to its DM composer, including a revised UI and improvements to transitions and attachments.

As outlined by X engineer Alex Perez, the app simplified its DM interface in order to make it easier for users to understand the process and focus on their messages.
Perez said X Chat will also offer new voice message gestures and haptic indicators to improve response.
In addition, the app improved the transition animations between DM elements, and made improvements to message drafts, which will now save attachments alongside message text.
The updates are relatively small in isolation, but in combination they could drive a significant shift in functionality and make X Chat a more valuable messaging tool.
X officially launched its updated X Chat interface and app in April. The company hopes this will eventually form the backbone of its expanded interactive functionality.
That includes money transfers. The rebuilt X Chat infrastructure now includes more security elements, which X hopes will eventually enable it to offer financial transactions housed within the X ecosystem.
X has faced various challenges on this front, with regulators in several U.S. states denying X’s application for a money transmitter license. The pushback partially stems from concerns about X’s business funding, and in particular its links to investors in Saudi Arabia.
X owner Elon Musk hasn’t helped his cause, with his constant political provocations raising the ire of many oversight bodies. Those organizations are now likely to be less open to allowing Musk to gain more market influence and control.
But ideally, the revised X Chat will be a key stepping stone towards Musk’s “everything app” vision for X.
