Kathy Hochul picks Adrienne Adams for lieutenant governor – NBC New York

The governor has found her running mate.

Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat up for re-election later this year, has named former NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to run for New York lieutenant governor. The governor made the announcement Wednesday on social media.

“I picked a New Yorker from Southeast Queens. Someone who grew up in a union household, just like I did. A fighter who knows how to deliver for New York,” Hochul said in a post on X.

Adams most recently ran for mayor in a crowded field of Democrats vying to replace Eric Adams.

Hochul’s current lieutenant governor, Antonio Delgado, decided to run for governor. On the right, they face a Republican challenge from Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

What to know about Adrienne Adams
