The EVIL DEAD BURN Popcorn Bucket Is Wonderfully Twisted… But You Can’t Buy It — GeekTyrant

Movie theater popcorn buckets have turned into collectibles all their own, with studios trying to outdo each other every time a major release rolls around. Horror fans have gotten some especially wild designs over the last few years, but Evil Dead Burn may have just delivered one of the most unsettling concepts yet.
The catch? You can’t actually buy it. A promotional reveal recently showcased a horrifying popcorn bucket inspired by Evil Dead Burn, and it’s exactly the kind of thing horror fans would proudly display on a shelf.
Designed to look like a dishwasher straight out of the nightmarish scene in the trailer, the bucket forces anyone reaching for popcorn to stick their hand between rows of upward-pointing knives. It’s ridiculous, creepy, and kind of awesome.
Just when it looked like Evil Dead Burn had thrown its hat into the popcorn bucket arms race this summer, fans learned the unfortunate truth. This gruesome concession stand collectible isn’t headed to theaters alongside the film.
The bucket wasn’t created as a retail item at all. It was built after horror fans tossed around ideas for what an Evil Dead Burn popcorn bucket should look like following the trailer’s memorably gruesome kitchen scene.
As Dread Central reports: “Unfortunately, this isn’t one you’ll be able to take home from the concession stand. The dishwasher bucket was created strictly as a promotional display piece, inspired by the Evil Dead fandom suggestions.”
That’s a pretty disappointing update for collectors because this thing would’ve instantly become one of the year’s most memorable movie merchandise releases.
Of course, if Warner Bros. and New Line were willing to listen to fan ideas once, maybe there’s still hope. If enough horror fans start asking for it, perhaps the studios will eventually produce a limited run.
Preferably with harmless prop knives instead of anything that might send fans to the emergency room while grabbing a handful of popcorn.
Evil Dead Burn serves as a standalone chapter in the legendary horror franchise from director Sébastien Vaniček. The story follows a recent widow whose attempt to reconnect with her late husband’s family takes a horrifying supernatural turn, bringing the familiar Deadite mythology into an entirely new nightmare.
As disappointing as it is that this nightmare dishwasher won’t be sitting on concession counters, it’s hard not to appreciate the creativity behind it. Even as a one-off promotional piece.
The film arrives in theaters on July 10.
