The Arizona Cardinals’ Director of College Scouting has been suspended indefinitely for breaking NFL gambling rules, including allegedly disclosing confidential information about Cardinals’ draft selections for the 2026 NFL Draft before the picks were announced.
The NFL said in a statement on Friday (July 17) that an investigation determined that Ryan Gold allegedly not only shared that inside information but also placed parlay bets on NFL and college football games, which is also a violation of league gambling policy.
NFL Announces Suspension
The news was reported by Associated Press (AP).
The NFL did not say who received the information about the Cardinals’ draft picks.
“The Gambling Policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information,” the NFL said in a statement.
“Although there is no reason to believe the integrity of any NFL game was affected, the League takes any violation of the Gambling Policy with the utmost seriousness.”
Confidential Draft Information
The NFL also indicated the Cardinals have been cooperative in the investigation and that there was no indication that any other member of the organization was aware of or involved in the activity, according to AP.
Gold was promoted to the Director of College Scouting with the Cardinals in June 2025. He has been with the team for 13 years and has also served as the Assistant Director of College Scouting and College Scouting Coordinator.
Cardinals Support Decision
Gold can appeal the decision.
“The NFL’s policies and expectations for all employees are clear, comprehensive, and consistently communicated,” the Cardinals said in a statement.
“We fully support the league’s decision in this matter, which involves a single employee. Our focus remains on preparing for the start of training camp next week and the 2026 season.”
