Police in the Bronx are on the hunt for a deranged man who pushed a senior onto a subway track on Thursday afternoon in an unprovoked attack.
According to police sources, the terrifying assault unfolded at around 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 27 inside the 180th Street station on the 2/5 lines in West Farms.
Law enforcement sources said the victim, a 65-year-old woman, was waiting on the 2 and 5 platform when the unidentified suspect approached and shoved her onto the roadbed. Cops say the pair had no prior interaction and that it appeared to bea random assault.
After shoving the woman onto the tracks, cops said, the perpetrator — who wore a gray shirt and blue jeans — fled out of the station and onto 183rd Street, heading northbound.
Officers from Transit District 12 responded to the incident. Firefighters were able to help the victim back onto the platform.
Police said the victim suffered minor injuries to her knee and was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.
So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
