Chicago PD – The Wicked River – Review : Love Is The Strongest Bond

I have loved this relationship arc for Atwater since it started and I am so happy that this episode ended in the way it did. We really haven’t gotten to see Atwater really have a meaningful relationship in the 13 seasons of the show, and we have definitely been robbed of it because currently this is one of my favourite recurring storylines this season.
I think we already knew that Kevin hadn’t told anyone about the baby, or more so that we guessed because no one else had mentioned it. I did really like Burgess and Ruzek’s differing responses to the news too.
The case in this episode really tied everything together to make this one of the best episodes of the season so far. It definitely contributed to that ending scene of Foxwater, specifically when Atwater was interrogating Alan and he refused to flip on his son and wife. It really seemed to strike a cord with Atwater that maybe he hasn’t figured everything out just yet.
I think I say this almost every week but I really have loved the new format that we have had this season with each episode focusing on one person whilst also having the other unit members being involved too. It was fantastic to have a proper episode dedicated to how Atwater and Fox are going to progress with this.
As always one drama shows a relationship is never going to be smooth but I really do think that this could be a lasting relationship for the show, not just because they are having a baby together but also because of their chemistry and clear deep care of one another.
I am truly so excited to see where this storyline goes, we haven’t ever seen a storyline like this for Atwater and I think we are going to be granted access to another side of Kevin that we have only seen a spark of when he is looking after his siblings.
Overall this was a really fantastic episode and answered a lot of questions that I had about the Foxwater relationship but also left the door open for more questions to be asked and answered in the future.
