New Chibi & Extended Arts Build Yu-Gi-Oh! Hype — GeekTyrant

Konami recently released a new booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery contains a total of 146 cards with 40 brand-new cards for the TCG, 10 new chibi artworks, 10 new extended art cards, and 86 reprints that are mostly rarity upgrades or downgrades. K

onami was kind enough to send me a box to open which you can check out below, but I wanted to share some overall thoughts in regards to sets like this.

I think overall, Glorious Gallery is a decent set. I was excited for the new Shaddoll cards since that is the first deck I played when I was getting back into the game around 2020 after a 10+ year hiatus.

I know that Dragunity is also a fan favorite, so I’m glad to see that there’s some love being given to some of these archetypes.

Now, I’m not expecting any of these decks to go and top a YCS at the moment, but I do think that these are fantastic to try in Genesys. I haven’t had the opportunity to do that quite yet myself, but I am very interested to see what can be done there.

Another point in favor of Glorious Gallery is the alternate artworks. I personally love many (possibly most) of the chibi artworks that we’ve gotten. I still think that Skull Servant might be my favorite, but there are a lot of really good ones.

In Glorious Gallery, I was excited at the prospect of getting Summoned Skull or Evolzar Laggia. I don’t even play decks that use those cards, I just think they’re adorable! Now, I do share my thoughts on the chibi Exodia the Forbidden One in my video, so I won’t spoil it here.

Additionally, the extended art cards have been really popular with duelists. I was very tepid with the first wave in Rarity Collection V, but this wave is much stronger to me with cards like Chaos Angel, Dragon Master Magia, and Dominus Impulse!

All that said, there is one minor annoyance and that is simply the set size. 146 cards is pretty big and when you only get 5 cards in a pack, it feels huge. There are some cards that I do not understand why they’re in here.

The big one is Shapesnatch which I can only assume is a copyright thing since it only has one other printing and it was as a common in Pharaonic Guardian in 2003. That’s 23 years ago and it’s not a good card. There are also reprints of the Invoked fusion monsters which were reprinted not that long ago and I’m fairly certain they weren’t that expensive.

I know it’s a popular archetype to run alongside Shaddolls and they do have the Magistus anime going on right now with Aleister, but that’s 4 slots you could just not include. In my opinion, a 100-card set is more than sufficient with the 5-card packs.

If they didn’t want to count the alternate artworks towards that, I’d be fine with that so it’s 120 cards in all. That’s 26 fewer than now and feels much better to me.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, but I think Yu-Gi-Oh! is really shaping up this year. Sure, not everything is a win. The latest forbidden and limited list was a letdown for many duelists.

However, as a whole, I think 2026 is breathing some much needed life and hype back into this card game that we love. I know that I’m still extremely hyped for next month’s release of Chaos Origins and then the release of Magnificent Monsters in September. What are you hyped for this year?
